Registered on 11th December 2012, UTMSPACE Services Sdn Bhd (USSB), fully owned by UTMSPACE is a corporate entity of University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). USSB was established as gesture of support towards the government’s vision as intended in the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) Phase Two. The College was established in mid-1993. It was initiated by Tan Sri Shariff Ahmad, a former Minister of Education and Mr. Yan Kock Yuen an entrepreneur.

During the period, Mr. Yan the Owner of the Syuen group of companies built a hotel, “The Syuen Hotel” in Ipoh. Whilst attempting to source employee for this enterprise, Mr.Yan discovered that personnel training in this sector is not easily available. Demand was far greater than supply and staff turnover in the industry was far above the national average. This prompted the founder to start a Hotel & Catering Management School.
